One district, a dozen different jobs

The Southside is the most varied part of Glasgow to move in. Within two miles you go from red sandstone tenements in Strathbungo to villas in Pollokshields, from busy Shawlands flats to quiet semis in Newlands. Two properties on neighbouring streets can be completely different jobs.

That is why we price on the property rather than the postcode. A Shawlands tenement needs crew hours for the stairs. A Newlands family home needs van capacity for the volume. Getting that judgement right before the day is what keeps the quote fixed.

Flats to Family Homes

Tenements, villas, semis and new build — crewed and vehicled to suit the property.

Oversized Furniture

Southside rooms are generous, which means furniture often is too. We check the route first.

Fully Insured

Goods in transit and public liability cover on every move, communal areas included.

Packing & Storage

Full or fragile-only packing, and secure storage when dates do not align.

What makes a move here different

Property type changes street by street

Shawlands and Govanhill are predominantly tenement. Newlands and parts of Cathcart are detached and semi-detached. Pollokshields runs from mansion flats to large villas. Ask for a quote based on your actual property, not a district average.

Big rooms mean big furniture

Southside tenements were built with high ceilings and generous rooms, and people furnish them accordingly. The result is that furniture bought for the room frequently will not come back out through the stair turn. Measure before you move, and before you buy.

Parking is genuinely mixed

Around Shawlands, Strathbungo and Queens Park you may well need a dispensation or bay suspension. In Newlands and much of Cathcart, driveway access means no permit at all. It depends entirely on your street.

Strathbungo and parts of Pollokshields sit in conservation areas. That does not change the move itself, but the streets are narrow and neighbours are attentive — a note through the doors a few days beforehand prevents a lot of friction on the day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Southside flat move cost?

A one-bedroom typically runs £200 to £380 and a two-bedroom £350 to £600, depending on floor level and parking. We confirm a fixed figure after a short video walkthrough.

Is the Southside cheaper to move in than the West End?

Often slightly, mainly because parking is less universally controlled. Where the property is a tenement flat on an upper floor, the cost is very similar.

Do you cover Govanhill and Mount Florida?

Yes, along with Battlefield, Langside, Crosshill, Pollokshaws and the surrounding streets.

Can you move a piano from a Southside tenement?

Yes. Pianos need specialist equipment and crew rather than a general team, so send a photo of the instrument and the stairwell for an accurate price.

Will I need a parking permit?

Around Shawlands, Strathbungo and Queens Park, usually yes. In Newlands and Cathcart with a driveway, usually not. Send us the address and we will confirm.
