Grid streets, tenement closes and back lanes

Dennistoun and the East End are laid out on a tight grid of tenement streets, most with a communal close at the front and a service lane behind. That layout gives us options a West End move often does not have — but only if the loading position is planned before the van turns up.

This is one of the fastest-changing parts of Glasgow, and a large share of our work here is first-time buyers and renters moving in from elsewhere in the city. Whether you are moving a one-bedroom flat off Duke Street or a family home in Carntyne, the pricing is fixed and the crew is sized for the stairs.

Tight turns, narrow closes and upper-floor carries are routine work for our crews.

What makes a move here different

The back lane is often the answer

Most East End tenement blocks have a rear service lane. Where the front street is narrow, parked up or on a bus route, loading from the back can save an hour. It has to be checked in advance though — some lanes are gated, blocked or too soft for a loaded van.

Duke Street and London Road are slow

Both are busy through-routes with bus lanes and loading restrictions. Start times matter here more than in most parts of the city, and a mid-morning start is usually faster than an eight o’clock one.

You are close to the LEZ boundary

The Low Emission Zone covers the city centre, and Calton, Bridgeton and the western edge of the East End sit right on its edge. Our vehicles are compliant, but it is worth confirming with any firm you approach.

Rents and prices here have moved quickly, and a lot of our East End work is short-notice mid-tenancy moves. If your date is inside a week, call rather than email — we hold capacity for same-week jobs.

Frequently asked questions

Can you load from the back lane?

Often yes, and it is frequently faster. We check the lane in advance for gates, width and surface before committing to it.

Do you do short-notice moves in Dennistoun?

Yes. A lot of our East End work is same-week. Call rather than email if your move is inside seven days.

How much is a one-bedroom flat move?

Typically £200 to £360 depending on the floor and the parking. We confirm a fixed price after a short video walkthrough.

Do you cover Baillieston and Cranhill?

Yes, along with Riddrie, Tollcross, Carntyne, Springboig and the surrounding streets.

Is the Low Emission Zone a problem?

Not for a move within the East End. It applies in the city centre, and our vehicles are compliant either way.
